DOXA RARE WATCH DEAD SECOND OR SECONDE MORTE/SECONDES SAUTANTES - JUMPING SECONDS - TOP CONDITIONS - RAREST CALIBER CHEZARD 115 - 1957 I decided to put on selling a rare watch from my old personal collection to finance a future new purchase. During 50's and 60's a few Brand tried to realize dead beat seconds or Seconde Morte Wristwaches; this rare complication started on 1880 on PW Pocket watches especially for navigations; Ships or vessels instruments. During 60's Omega realized Caliber 372 (produced on 1000 unitys only for USA market but retired as there were problems..) or ROLEX with the Tru beat steel model. Here we have a rare DOXA animated by the RAREST Caliber realized by CHEZARD EBAUCHES SA Swiss producer: CALIBER 115 DEAD BEAT SECONDS is a complicated function;: pratically balance runs normally and so it generates a normal movement for seconds common on hand wind or automatic watches BUT ATTENTION: there is a second bridge with complicated mechanism; this complication "reduces" the seconds rotation and so we can see om dial SECONDS such as on Quartz movement.  Normally we have 21.600 A/H so for a second timing on dial usually we "see" 6 fast little ticks; on the Dead Second Complication the System "blocks" temporaly these 6 ticks and releases only ONE TICK instead of the six ones! Praticallly there will be 60 slow seconds pulsations on the Dial!! This Caliber CHEZARD 115  presents really NOT ONE but TWO complications: It has BOTH hack seconds and STOP second functions! ( There are other similar Chezard Caliber such as 116-118- or vey simple 7400 variations that does not have HACKING SECONDS AND STOP SECONDS complication). Practically crown has 3 positions; I try to do my best to explain: - Position 1 : Crown totaly depressed "attacched" to the case of the watch: on this position, balance spins freely but time showed is ONLY HOURS AND MINUTES (only hours and minutes are running); DEAD SECONDS are STOPPED! - Position 2 or INTERMEDIATE; it need to extract crown for one little step: This is the FULL work position: balance spins freely; HOURS; MINUTES AND DEAD SECONDS ARE RUNNING and we can see the little surprise of engeneering of Seconds going slow as on quartz movement! - Position 3 = Crown is TOTALLY extracted or pull out: All movement is fully stopped: Balance; hours; minutes and seconds does not running; This function is to adjust time with very high precision! A few further details: Doxa ALL original Case on TOP conditions; top body is yellow Gold Plaque 20 Microns and it is PERFECT! really near to a NOS case; Stainless steel screw in back is original and shows serial number 5634990 and 15001; Crown is original and signed and it is PINK rose gold plaque. Dial is fine It is ORIGINAL and not refinished and shows raised pink rose gold markers; ORIGINAL rose goldplated hands and central seconds; there is very very little patina over central surface but nothing hard while on wrist. Internal Movement is hand wind as explained and it is DOXA Caliber 32 but REALLY BASED ON a RARE CHEZARD Caliber 115 21 Jewels; Movement has been revised only partiallly but it is all original and it is running well and keeping good time; at the same all the 3 POSITIONS for hakcing seconds and stop seconds are working good and properly. Size is a little more of 35 MM: Not counting ORIGINAL Crown and about 37-38-39 with Crown in normal position- FIRST Extraction (Dead second activation) - Maximum extraction or totally pulled out to stop ALL the movements! A RARE watch for a TOP Collector of course not ALL Persons can understand the "Great Beauty" and rarity of this Movement; Modern Brand has put on Market limited Edition Watches with tihs complications but on MODERN cases! This DOXA on the contrary is the real History and witness of this complication: a fine and elegant watch hidding a rare little pearl of Movement...NOT for all! It need respect and great care and to avoid water or dust.
