++ RARE Antique Pocket Watch, Early KW/KS Lange #2562, 19S, 15J Who Can Bid: Only buyers with at least 10 feedbacks AND a percentile of more than 95% can participate in this auction. General Description: What is being offered for sale is a rare antique keywind keyset 19-size 15-jewel pocket watch by Adolphe Lange of Dresden. The low serial number is 2562. See the photo gallery for details and condition. The watch is complete and semi-functional (see Operational section). The movement appears to be all original, except for the hands and the ratchet wheel (see Winding/Setting section). The coin-silver re-case is a “handsome” work in progress (see Case Condition section). Features of the movement include: impulse jewel in arm of balance, gold escape wheel, gold lever, Breguet overcoil, and banking pin in arm of lever (with hole in pillar plate), The diameter of the dial is 46 mm (American 19 size, Swiss 20-1/4 ligne). Casemaker: The maker’s mark is “O. & K., N.Y.” (I am not sure of the “O”). The case is also marked “Coin”. Monogram: The case has no monogram or personal inscription. Case Condition: There are no dents or dings or significant scratches, but there are light scratches on the cuvette – see photos. The case hinges are not damaged and they are in good working order. As previously noted, the case is a work-in-progress. The movement is NOT secured to the middle of the case and will drop out if the front bezel is opened and the movement is facing down. Regarding the holes in the cuvette, the middle hole lines up perfectly and the winding hole is slightly off centered, but even so the winding key can be inserted easily – see photos. Dial/Hands: The enamel dial is intact but there are hairlines – see photos. The hour hand could be original. The minute hand and seconds hand are good matches with the hour hand, but they are a tad short. Operational: I don’t know when the watch was last cleaned and lubricated, but as is, it will tick nicely for several hours (or more) and the balance has a good strong motion in all positions and is true in both the round and the flat. When operational the movement will remain within 1 minute of accuracy for 12 hours. If balance stops (and the mainspring is wound), a light tap on the 4th wheel will activate the balance immediately. Note: For elevation, there is a thin dial washer located beneath the foot of the balance cock. Winding/Setting: The winding and setting mechanisms are complete and functional. The watch comes with a 19th-century key. The ratchet wheel in this watch was seriously damaged. It was replaced with an identical wheel in diameter, thickness, and teeth size. Photos of the damaged wheel and replacement are shown in the photo gallery. The damaged wheel will be shipped with the watch. Guarantee: The watch can be returned for a refund of the bid amount if the seller is notified within 14 days of receipt (as determined by Delivery Confirmation) and the watch is in the condition shown in the photos. It is important to me that every customer is 100% satisfied. Thus, I will do whatever is required to make sure that each and every customer is pleased with ALL aspects of the transaction. Payment and Shipment: All payments must be received by me within 10 days after the auction has ended. However, since I have a “no question return policy” and if the buyer is unable to make payment, he can simply cancel the auction without any consequences. IMPORTANT Shipping Details: Buyers pay for USPS priority mail, first class, or flat rate depending on the weight and size of the package and the value of the item (as indicated in the eBay “Shipping & Payments” section of the listing).
