Up for auction is a beautiful Fortis Cosmonaut chronograph watch. I purchased it new and wore it for one week. The bracelet was never used and has its wrapping from the factory, and all links are there. The case has a couple of minor scuffs and tiny scratches neat the lug. The sapphire crystal is clear and without any scratches or scuffs. Check out the photos for details. The watch includes the inner box and outer box, tag, manual and most important the official certificate from the Yu A. Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center and the Russian Federation regarding the precision and reliability of this watch. Unlike other Cosmonaut you see being sold, this one is numbered and comes with the certificate. Watch is sold as-is with no warranty. This Fortis is built like a tank and its weight confirms that fact. It looks and feels completely solid and very high quality. It uses the automatic Swiss Valjoux 7750 chronograph day / date movement set up in the classic tri-compax design. The movement has 25 jewels with Incabloc shock absorbing. Fortis sponsored the Russian space program by supplying these chronographs. The caseback engraving of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) and the Gagarin Cosmonauts Training Center, Star City shows the official logo of the Russian space authorities and this series of Fortis are individually numbered. They were used by astronauts on the space station MIR. If you look across the internet you’ll see that the values of these models has gone up which is further evidence of their quality and collectability. The watch is equipped with fixed bezel that has an engraved and canted classic tachymeter scale, giving the watch even more depth. The dial is silver with special sunburst grinding and the Arabic numbers are raised and dyed blue which gives the dial depth. The hands are coated with Superluminova. Inside the steel case, a fine adjusted Valjoux chronograph movement is working and the double coated anti-reflective sapphire crystal allows perfect legibility.
