This is a stainless steel vintage 1940 Gallet Regulator Chronograph. It has a leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. There is a snap on solid case back engraved with a serial number, and the Gallet logo and name inside. The chronograph pushbuttons are oval-shaped, and the 33.5mm diameter solid three-body case, downturned lugs and faceted angled bezel are polished/brushed. The dial is military black with gilt numbers and letters, and it's anti-magnetic. There is a time dial at 12 o'clock, and there is a 30-minute elapsed time subsidiary dial at 6 o'clock. It has a 60-second outer track with Arabic numerals every five seconds, and an inner tachymeter scale to 400 UPH. The 11.6mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical manual winding Venus caliber 140 movement is constructed with 17 jewels, 103 components, a monometallic balance, and a straight-line lever escapement. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph. The Venus caliber 140 doctor's chronograph movement in this Gallet Regulator Chronograph was introduced in the late 1920's, the first chronograph produced in the Venus Factory.
