Beautiful Men's 1936 Hamilton Dress Watch with Presentation Box - SERVICED
Without question, Hamilton Watch Company of Lancaster, Pa. has emerged as one of the finest watch houses to ever build a timepiece. Around the world, the Hamilton watch is lauded for its innovative design, both functionally and artistically. Beginning their claim to fame as designers of Railroad Pocket watches with degrees of error measured within fractions of seconds a day, Hamilton went on to become major forces in the wristwatch line, hiring the brightest designers and engineers to oversee development of hundreds of original styles. Today Hamiltons retain their spot as most favored timepieces among fashion artists and collectors. The influence of Hamilton Watch Company on American styling can be seen everywhere: In "Pearl Harbor" the heroes were sporting Hamilton WWII watches; in "Men in Black" the heroes flashed Hamilton electric "Venturas." Nearly every period movie features a dashing leading man with a Hamilton watch peeking from under his sleeve or vest pocket. Under-appreciated talents such as Richard Arbib — who designed the majority of Hamilton's asymmetrical models — dreamed and developed watches so breathtakingly handsome on the wrist that they are fought after to this day. This men's Hamilton dress wristwatch in yellow gold fill is as impressive a "Jazz Age" timepiece as one could hope for. Measuring a hefty 36mm long by 26mm wide, this example sports a marvelously restored dial with outer minutes track, "boxcar" numerals and sub-seconds register. Yellow gold tone spear hands are completely original, as are the ribbed, yellow gold filled case and heavy reeded crown. Open this hefty timepiece and you'll find one of the best wrist mechanisms to come out of the era: a fully serviced and original high-grade 17 ruby jewel "987-A" with gold screw-jewel settings, line damaskeening, compensated balance and baton regulator. It's as solid and remarkable a little machine as ever came from an American watch house. If you're looking for a crisp Deco example of one of this country's finest efforts, you have found it.

As many of our fine buyers and repeat clients know, each day we offer a smattering of things we've picked up here and there, many fine watches and pieces of jewelry that for one reason or another we'll not be offering on our Web site – some new old stock! Take a moment to look through our eBay offerings and bypass the estate and yard sale madness for watches and outstanding pieces of Victorian and Deco jewelry –  many of which are running and pristine – that are ridiculously underpriced. Watches this week include a '20s ladies antique watch or two, '30s Deco pieces, a '40s military style wristwatch, and fine Retro stainless steel wristwatches that are representative of a style that’s becoming all the rage; as well as gold rings and vintage wire lug examples perfect for restoration. Coming up are sterling silver wristwatches and a few items dug out of the workbench drawer of a retired watchmaker or two. Don't know anything about wristwatches? Have no idea about your grandfather's railroad pocket watch? We're one of the Web's largest vintage wrist and pocket watch dealers and are delighted to answer any questions you have about the timepieces we offer or those heirlooms you're unsure of. We extend a heartfelt invitation to see our other offerings and stop by to find out what's next!
