For sale is a ladies and gentlemen's watch set that was a ceremonial gift personally given to visiting dignitaries from Kim Dae-jung (1924-2009), the former President of The Republic of Korea (South Korea). This genuine watch set is in new condition, 100% original, never worn, and in the original ceremonial presentation folder. Kim Dae-jung (6 January 1924 – 18 August 2009) was the 8th President of South Korea from 1998 to 2003, and the 2000 Nobel Peace Prize recipient. He was sometimes referred to as the "Nelson Mandela of Asia".
President Kim Dae-jung's signature is elegantly engraved in the watch backs with engraved individual serial numbers. The gentleman's watch is 35mm in diameter, serial number 2137954. The ladies watch is 26mm in diameter, serial number 1114284. An extremely rare and an important addition to collectors of historical memorabilia. The watch set was acquired in 2001 from a member of South Korea's diplomatic corps and stored it in a climate controlled safety deposit box since. The watches will need new batteries in order to be tested for time keeping accuracy.
