E52 Vintage diver's cortebert Subaqua The diameter of the all stainless steel case with stainless steel screw case back is 37mm not including the crown. Full length is 41mm. It is 19mm wide between the lugs. Abraham-Louis Juillard founded the firm in Switzerland, in 1790, although the name as such only appeared in 1855. Cortebert disappeared with the quartz crisis of the early seventies but Cortébert was in fact the seventh oldest brand of watches. Its reputation was excellent and they even manufactured their own calibers, one of them quite unique, as it provided 24 hours indication in a moon phase watch. They have supplied Rolex with movements in the past, namely caliber 616 for the original vintage Panerai supplied to the Italian Navy. Specifics of this model: 1 - Very rare technical diver's watch with historic significance. 3 - The watch has an unusual pulsation scale and bi-directional diver’s bezel 4 - A genuine high quality Swiss made 25 jewels Cortébert automatic caliber 286, copper colored. This is probably based in ETA 2472, I am not sure. 5 - Original waterproof specification of 20 Atmos The reference or serial number in the back: 286201 SB cosmetics dial: The original dial, with a sunburst pattern, looks in excellent condition- see the pictures and make your own opinion hands: the hands are in excellent condition, they have only small signs of age - see the pictures and make your own opinion case: It shows only some small signs of wear, it is in excellent condition. keeps its original finish - see the pictures and make your own opinion Movement: finish of the movement is OK. I would say excellent - see the pictures and make your own opinion The crystal: is Plexiglas / plastic and has only small signs of use. It has a few unobtrusive scratches. It seems the original crystal, with a magnifying date window. see the pictures and make your own opinion The crown: is unmarked, it is probably a replacement but I am not sure about this. It is not a screw down crown. see the pictures and make your own opinion The bezel: The aluminum bezel rotates bi-directionally and looks gorgeous see the pictures and make your own opinion Inside the watch: High quality, Swiss made, 25 jewels Cortébert caliber 286. This was designed and built by Cortebert in house, not a movement bought from a third party. other: The watch is signed Cortébert: in the dial, case and in the movement. The bracelet is not from Cortebert, it is a gift that goes with the watch. It is a vintage rubber bracelet that looks very nice except the buckle which has a lot of oxidation. Can be replaced by a NATO type nylon bracelet if the buyer prefers. Service history: 1 - It was not recently serviced. I don't even know if it was serviced after leaving factory premises. If it is not stated that the watch has been serviced recently you would better consider a revision by an expert watchmaker, no matter how good the test results may look. This applies to every vintage watch, not only this one. Working condition: 1 - Starts immediately when wound. 2 - Winds smoothly. 3 - runs strong. 4 - Time setting is smooth. 5 - date changing, via turning the hands, works fine. To get you a clearer picture of how the watch will behave, I do the following home testing: I manually wind the watch, even if the watch has automatic wind, and test it against a watch that I know is correct. For this I purpose I use a web page that provides the exact time. I check the deviation after 12h and 24 hours. The result after 12h for this watch: +03 seconds. After 24h for this watch: +07 seconds 1 - These home tests are not a warranty of repeatability or accuracy. 2 - Actually wearing the watch in the pulse will get you different results for sure. 3 - No matter how good the test results may look, the watch is sold as is, without any sort of warranty.
