The story of the genius John Harwood started in 1922 on the Isle of Man in his little workshop repairing watches. He found particularly fault with the new wristwatches because their inadequate cases freely let in dust and moisture. And thus appeared the first prototype of an automatic wristwatch, adapted from an ordinary Swiss hand wound caliber. In 1924, he patented his invention.  Then he partnered with Manufacturer SA and Walter Vogt, owner of the Fortis watch Co to start production in 1926.  The history of the first series produced automatic wristwatches end up in 1931. The same year, Harwood presents the l’Autorist”. During the promotion of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual, Harwood and Rolex exchange correspondence.  It was the beginning of an amazing story when Harwood joined Rolex.
