E.Gübelin Military Watch 37mm fancy lugs steel case Militär Armbanduhr WWII 1940This truly unique and rare oversize timepiece commissioned and retailed by E.Gubelin of Switzerland is in superb all original condition and possibly one of a kind. I certainly have never seen anything like this in all my years. It is a beautiful combination of sporty ruggedness in the all stainless steel case along with fancy dress like style with those cool fluted horn style lugs. It has a great presence on the wrist measuring 37mm in diameter and 9mm thick (without the glass)!! The case, dial, hands and movement are in a used but very good condition.E.Gubelin worked with several companies in its heyday including Patek Philippe, Audemars Piquet and Jaeger Lecoultre (to name a few) to retail high end pieces of what I would call horological "Art" to aficionados of the day. It is one of the rare horological business relationships where many of the timepieces produced, in this case by Eterna, were signed only with the E.Gubelin mark, inside and out. I believe this demonstrates how eager these companies were to work with this famous high end Swiss retailer. Style: Military, SportCirca: 1940'sCase: Fantastic oversize 2-piece solid stainless steel case with incredible fancy horn style lugs and screw down waterproof back. Measures a full 37mm excluding the original crown and is in overall excellent condition with very little signs of wear. Inner cover to further protect the movement from dust and magnetization is also present. Also signed inside the back, E.Gubelin, Switzerland, Acier Inoxydable. Comes on a high quality, thick 19mm wide genuine leather strap.Dial: Original factory printed black dial with deep yellow luminous number and outer seconds track. Original hands also with all luminous still intact. Signed E.Gubelin, Swiss.Movement: Absolutely pristine large Eterna caliber 852 manual wind movement with indirect center seconds and beautiful plate decoration. Signed E.Gubelin, 15 Jewels, Swiss, Unadjusted. A very high grade movement with large bi-metailic cut balance and hidden ratchet wheels.
