On offer is the Glashutte Original Senator Navigator watch, with an authentic Glashutte Original strap in black kevlar, red stitching, and lined in red leather (the original padded brown leather strap is included), in very good condition. This watch is the archetype of WWII-era pilot watches (or Groβe Fliegeruhr), and it has been imitated by many watchmakers.This timepiece shows only minor signs of wear on the caseback and the signed tang buckle; it was in 2014 completely serviced by Glashutte Original, in Germany, including the replacement of the blued steel hands. The original boxes and papers were misplaced, and are therefore not included.The Glashütte Original Senator Navigator watch features a triangular shaped index at 12 O’clock with two dots either side which dates back to the original specification dictated by the RLM.The hacking movement of the original Groβe Fliegeruhr was necessary to synchronise the watch precisely. The seconds hand would stop when the crown was pulled out. Glashütte Original has refined the idea by providing a reset mechanism in the form a push corrector located at 8 o’clock, which sets and stops the seconds hand at 12 O'Clock. To synchronize this watch with another, simply release the push corrector, and the seconds hand resumes its function.Legibility was always a key attribute of the original Pilot watches, especially in fading light. The Arabic numerals, matte black dial, large indices and blued hands all work in unison, delivering a clarity which is obvious to see. However, Superluminova provides a greater luminescence than the original RLM specification watches would have enjoyed and underscores the constant pursuit of perfection typified by this German Manufacture.Model: Glashütte Original Senator Navigator Automatic
