In 1912 the company was established by Walter Vogt in Grenchen, Switzerland. In 1926 the first self-winding wristwatch in serial production, the legendary Harwood, was presented. On the occasion of the 25th company anniversary, the first chronographs were produced. In 1954 Fortis began the production and wordwide distribution of automatic alarm clocks. Fortis is one of Swiss brands with a high technical know-how. 2001: The first experiment on board of the international space station ISS. Fortis tests the global synchronization of wristwatches from outer space.
