Glycine Airman SST Vintage 1971-72. The “PUMPKIN” Glycine. This listing will not describe Glycine watches in any detail. There are plenty of collectible forums and the Glycine site where you can educate yourself in excruciating detail on these watches, this one specifically, if you’re not familiar with them. This SST is a one owner watch. An estate of an Air Force Helecopter pilot during the Vietnam War flying from Fort Lewis Army Base south of Tacoma Washington to locations all over the Pacific, Japan , Korea and Southeast Asia including Vietnam. This watch was subsequently in storage from the early 90's until the mid now.  It runs very well and keeps perfect time however I do not know it's last service. Comes with vintage Glycine box.I recently learned that Glycine had resurrected this “Pumkin” watch in 2006 and is selling their new version for around $2600. Seems that these original vintage versions are rapidly becoming a collectors’ watches.Whether you’re a serious collector, just a 24 hour watch junky, a serious pilot, or a world traveler, if you want an excellent vintage version of the Glycine Airman SST with a story this is the watch for you. If you’re a serious pilot Glycine is the ONLY serious flying watch. It does three critical and fundamental things with great precision. It displays the time in UTC/GMT format (24Hour) in two time zones and the date. Anything else on a flying watch such as you’ll find on the overpriced Breitlings and TAGs is a waste. From day 1 Glycine watches were designed for commercial and military pilots. This unit is what the collectors and forums are calling the “Purist” version. Two time zones and the date. Period. Some Glycine watches have a third red hour hand that allows the owner to display three time zones. Two on the inner dial and the third on the moving bezel. There are pros and cons to that configuration.
