The Millenary is actually off-centered, and not a optical illusion.. That dynamic layout with off-centered hours and minutes, and a small seconds register between 6 and 9 o’clock, although now openworked – which provides an even better view of the movement. I particularly love this color combination and the detail in the dial. Here, Audemars Piguet uses contrasting materials to highlight the time-telling elements of the watch. Hours, minutes, and seconds are displayed .. with treated movement and a black sub-seconds dial.. you can tell that the movement was designed from the ground up to attractively fit the special oval case.. The three-dimensional architecture with several layers and two off-centered black snailed discs already revealed a great deal.. By reconfiguring them in order to place the regulating elements next to the dial and make them more visible. "The two primary criteria for evaluating an openworked watch are transparency, and the degree to which the openworking underscores the inherent beauty of the movement, and here I think AP has succeeded extremely well". Perhaps, the only thing that we dislike about the Millenary 4101, is that because the movement was reversed so that its back side would face the dial side, when looking at the back of the watch, it almost seems like something is missing and there's too much empty space around the oscillating weight —not a deal breaker. The rotor sits on ceramic ball bearings and the movement anthracite bridges.
