1990s LEMANIA PAUL ELVSTROM REGATTA YACHTIMER CHRONOGRAPH – SUPER RARE BACKGROUND HISTORY: Lemania has always been the watch manufacturer company that focus on the high quality movements and complications especially the chronograph movement. Lemania movement has always been famous with the workhorse and durable movement and no wonder some watches company had been using its movement in their watches. Regatta Chronograph had developed since 1970s by Albert Piguet, which was derived from the Lemania 1341 movement. The first variance of Regatta calibre that being developed was calibre 1345. It was being patented with 10 minutes countdown timer functionality. The main characteristic of Regatta Chronograph is the functionality of countdown or reverse timer. Beside producing the movement, Lemania also bring themselves into the production of watches in 1980s by themselves and come out with the first regatta watch known as “Lemania Racing Regatta” which is used for racing and able to count the second backwards for one minute (60 to 0 Seconds). In Beginning of 1990s, Lemania had the partnership with the late “Paul Elvstrom”, which is the very famous Danish yachtsman that had ever won the Olympic gold medals. This partnership resulted in the reissue of Yachtimer known as “Lemania Elvstrom” with new design case equipped with then compass rotating bezel and tactical P.E. (Paul Elvstrom) system printed on dial. The specific purpose of this watch was that it could be used for the tactical decision-making in conjunction with compass. There were many variances that exist with different dial colour such as Black, Silver, and Navy blue. One of the rarest, which is being listed here, is the Navy Blue Dial. Lemania Elvstrom is one of the most unique chronograph watches in the past. The special countdown functionality with the unique design of colourful dial and hands brings up the funkiness of the watch. This is one of the must have for vintage chronograph watch collectors. The most important to us is the originality. Dial: Lemania Navy Blue Dial is in super well preserved condition and remains untouched (NO Re-Dial, Re-Condition, or Re-Lume). The lume box on hour markers are very beautiful and have a slight patina color due to aging.
Hand Sets: Hand Set remains untouched (NO Re-condition or Re-lume). It is preserved very well and clean. The bright red color second hand is very clean and no sign of deterioration.
Bezel: The Bi-directional Compass Bezel is quite large and able to rotate smoothly. In order to set it, the bezel will need to be pressed down. It made from steel and in very good state with very tiny hairlines and not conspicuous. The printing on the bezel are very clean and sharp too. Movement: Lemania Caliber 1345 Automatic Chronograph movement with Flyback and regatta functionality is running perfectly. The caliber is also able to hand-wind. Case: The stainless steel case is come with brushed polishing. It is in unpolished condition. There are no dent or deep scratches and only hairlines which are not really visible. The "Lemania" gold paint wording on the back case is still very clear too.
Crystal: The sapphire crystal is in super clean condition with very minor hairlines marks and they are not visible at all. Crown: The crown is signed with Lemania logo and able to turn and wind smoothly. It is functioning very well. Not a screw down crown.
Strap: Genuine Brand New Navy Blue Hirsch Alligator Performance strap with rubber pad on the back. It is very durable since the back of the strap is padded from rubber.
