Brand / Model / Vintage: Lemania 105 Chronograph circa late 1950s/early 1960s
Movement: Lemania in-house caliber 1270 manual chronograph, 17 jewel automatic
Case: Original gold-plated case shows signs of light wear commensurate with age. Edges remain very sharp. If the case has ever been polished it was done so with a very light touch. 33mm diameter, 35mm with crown.
Dial / Crystal: All original dial is in perfect condition. The watch exhibits classic styling: two sub registers, gilt hands, blue tachymetre scale, button pushers. Due to the fact that the original acrylic crystal was compromised with hairline cracks/crazing a new one was installed in 2012.
Bracelet: The watch comes equipped with a beautiful aftermarket honey-colored crocodile leather strap.
Condition: The watch was fully serviced by a noted watchmaker in August 2012. In addition to replacing gaskets and disassembling, cleaning and oiling all moving parts, a new mainspring and crystal were installed. I asked that the case not be polished and the worn pushers remain intact.
Notes: This is one of the most flawless 50+ year old watches I've ever laid my eyes on. It's difficult to stop staring at it when attached to the wrist, and off the wrist as well. Collector awareness of the Lemania brand (Lemania was folded into the Swatch Group in 1999 and is now under Breguet) has picked up in recent years and it's not simply due to the fact that Lemania is responsible for some of the greatest mechanical movements ever created, namely the legendary caliber 5100 as well as the cal 2310, better known as the "Omega cal 321" used in the pre-1968 Speedmasters. In general, chronographs are a very hot commodity in the vintage watch market at present, and Lemania chronographs in top condition offer excellent value.
