Equation of Time Perpetual Calendar New YorkThe Jules Audemars Equation of Time timepiece is a truly phenomenal piece of art. This model boasts a round, brushed, and satin finished 18K rose gold case and a black dial with a spiral guilloche texture in the center. Applied gold hour markers display the indication of the hours and minutes. The dial also displays four very distinct subdials. A perpetual calendar complication that displays a date subdial at the 6 o'clock position, a day of the week subdial at the center of the 6 o'clock, and a month subdial at the 12 o'clock position with the center doubling as a moonphase indicator with a small leap year indicator directly to the right of this subdial. The timepiece's main attraction, however, is its Equation of Time complications which are all synchronized to the perpetual calendar. The complications include a sunrise subdial at the 3 o'clock position, a sunset subdial at the 9 o'clock position, and EOT hand that indicates the difference between the "mean" time and the "true" time. An Equation of Time complication indicates the difference between "true" solar time (that of nature) and "mean" solar time (that of man). As the earth orbits around the sun in an elliptical shape & the axis is tilted - there are only 4 days a year when the day is exactly 24 hours long April 15th, June 14th, September 1st and December 24th. All other days of the year the days are shorter or longer - depending in the position of the earth. This watch will show the difference between the "mean" time & the "true" time. Since the of the days are fixed year after year (at the same location) a watch can be manufactured to replicate the correction via a shaped cam which elongates & shortens the days accordingly.Features
