Hamilton Watch Co. "Rutledge" model wristwatch with platinum case. The Rutledge was introduced by Hamilton in 1935 at a retail price of $175, making it their flagship piece as the most expensive wristwatch model of the time and also the first model to be cased exclusively in platinum. Given this high price during the depths of the Great Depression, relatively few Rutledges were produced and sold. Watch measures about 37mm long by 22mm wide with lugs included, is fronted by its correct dial with raised 18K white gold numerals, and houses its correct correct 19 jewel Grade 982 model movement. Exterior of case is marked "Plat. 10% Irid., L&W" and interior of case is marked "Hamilton Watch Co., Lancaster PA, Irid. Plat.".Running and gained about 2 minutes over 24 hours and I think likely hasn't seen a cleaning and oiling in some time. Dial has scattered marks and also has wear to the perimeter. Case is attractive with a good overall look but has a few dings to the rear and case also has some typical scattered mild marks. Please check out my other items this week for more great watches and watch related items for sale. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!!! Shipping info - Shipment within the United States will be $30. Sales to Illinois residents are subject to 7.25% sales tax unless a copy of a valid Illinois state resale certificate is sent. Shipment outside of the United States will be $70, and all customs forms will be filled out accurately as to contents and value and I will not accept requests to falsify shipping info.
