Pocket watch Bovet Fleurier WORKING Fine, rare, 875/1000 silver pocket watch with center seconds, it was made for the Chinese market circa 1850. Excellent case engraved Bovet in Chinese characters.The characters on the inside of the watch is the transliterated words of the brand of the watch.The characters in the middle from right to left are "BoWei". "Bo" means broadcast, spread and sow; and "Wei" means power, strength, formidable force. There is a small "BoWei" on the top, and another small one at the right and left apart.Case No. 2639Diameter 57,2 mmIt works and keeps good time.See a lot of Bovet Fleurier: this is the first I see with ideograms instead of numbers.Sometimes something similar was previously seen on Christies or Bonham.It bears serial number 2639, so one of the first BF; it can be easily distinguished from the later models that were featured by poor quality of workmanship and by the absence of Fleurier from the signature.The case is in excellent conditions.The key wind movement is running and keeping time. Key NOT included. Fully serviced and cleaned (movements and case). Believe me it's a wonderful pocket watch for collection or as a valuable gift.
