1950’s Solid 18ct Rose Gold Oversize Universal Geneve Gents Vintage WatchThe OverviewThe Universal Geneve Watch Company was formed in the late 1800’s and were among the few luxury brands to manufacture whole watches (they made the case, dial and movement). They quickly gained a reputation for wonderful movements and effortlessly elegant watches. This 1950’s solid 18ct rose gold with claw lugs watch is simply stunning. The solid 18ct rose gold oversize case (35 mm’s across the case excluding the winding crown) is in excellent condition with only the most minimal signs of wear – the claw or teardrop lugs give a classically art-deco look. The original Universal signed salmon subsidiary second dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standards and is just beautiful. The rose gold hands and batons provide the softest contrast to the dial and blend perfectly with the gleaming rose gold case. I’ve struggled to capture the true beauty of this piece due to reflections – picture 6 gives a good indication of the dial and hands. The original Universal signed manual wind movement is again in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker. To complete this beautiful watch we’ve added a new, high quality, Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches dark brown crocodile skin strap with gold plated Hirsch buckle (yellow). Watches of this quality and in this condition are extremely rare and highly sought after – if history is any judge they will only increase in value. As mentioned, it has just been serviced by my watchmaker and, in view of the high-grade Swiss movement, I will include a 3 month guarantee on the movement which is long enough for you to assess the working order.
