Excellent and rare oversized lever chronometer by Paul Buhre. 1930s-1940s.High quality deck watch with big 24" movement is equipped with Guillaume balance with golden screws.
Instead of steel used in usual cut/compensated balance, Guillaume balance uses special nickel alloy, which provides much better stability in various temperature conditions.
It's one of the most complex and expensive part of the watch.
For example in the entire 1967 Vacheron Constantin parts catalog it's the most expense item at CHF 20,500 or $4,735 USD at the time..The movement can show great accuracy and consistency of time keeping.
As it lack micrometric regulator, it's hard to regulate the watch better than 1 second per day, while movement is capable of better results.
