FROM THE ESTATE OF A LOCAL AFFLUENT, I OFFER: A FAIRLY RARE, HIGH GRADE SOLID 18K YELLOW GOLD MEYLAN 46MM W/ AN INCREDIBLE NEW YORK SENATE PRESENTATION ON THE CUVETTE NET WEIGHT OF 18K GOLD IS 19.5 DWT - THIS IS WITH CRYSTAL AND STEM/CROWN REMOVED! Today I have the honor of offering a watch that was present to Lafayette B. Gleason, who was the the secretary of the from 1906 to 1937, and he was also the General Secretary for seven . More on this remarkable man can be read here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lafayette_Blanchard_Gleason The watch itself is a high grade 19 jewel nickel movement grade signed for William Barthman of Lower Manhattan, which measures 46mm in diameter, housed in a heavy 19.5 dwt 18K OF original case made by a Swiss manufactury, Stemwind, Stemset, Enamel Dial signed "William Barthman, New York", 19 jewel capped lever escapement with fine compound balance, full gold timing screws, finely polished steel pallet bridge, blued steel HS with isochronal overcoil, fine regulator, exposed teeth wind, and finest quality deep red ruby jewels. This piece is running strongly on a partial winding and has near mint plates which show no MFS, mint slots & settings, good train, no oxide on bright work, mint winding wheels; dial is very fine and hands are mint; original very heavy gauge case shows some wear with fabulous dedication to Mr. Gleason. Tight & perfect hinges, few MFS, no dents or dings; bow fine, crown shows virtually no wear; perfect glass crystal; a truly great example of a Meylan with a very, very special dedication!
