For information call Mauricio at 310.433-9293 Located in Geneva, Switzerland, Van Der Bauwede is a private label watchmaker from a family of jewelers and watchmakers. The family business has been passed from father to son ever since 1890. It was in 1890 that Alexis Van Der Bauwede, a native of Bruges, known as the Venice of the North, began working in the field of horology by assembling and regulating the complex movements of clocks and their chimes intended for cathedrals, belfries and town halls. While handling these mechanisms weighing up to 27 tons and governing 47 bells, he became fascinated by precision, rigorous and quality. He thus naturally turned his talents towards the miniaturization of these timepieces. The featured watch is an Automatic, Polished Solid Silver 800 VDB Van Der Bauwede Magnum Churchill 35. This piece measures to 40 x 40.5 mm and houses an Automatic, Val 7750 VDB, caliber 35 with a 42 hour power reserve. The case is Palladium coated and Rhodium plated with a domed Sapphire crystal, exhibition caseback and an engraved movement which is numbered. The stunning black guilloche "Tuxedo"dial has silver toned roman numeral hour markers and hands. It also features a chronograph with a 30 minute register at 12, subsidiary seconds at 9, a 12 hour register at 6 and a day/date window at 3. Completing this piece is a black leather strap with a Stainless Steel deployment buckle and it is water resistant up to 30 meters. Personal Note--This watch looks very similar to a Franck Muller, but has a massive and impressive, massive case. It is a rare and unusual timepiece and every time I wear mine, I get nothing but compliments. I very often wear much more expensive watches, yet this one is still one of my top favorites.
