MAGNIFICENT DIAMOND RUBY SWISS 18k SOLID GOLD ANTIQUE POCKET WATCH

You are bidding on an absolutely outstanding Swiss antique pocket watch that is approximately 140 years old!  This is a very unique watch that is 23mm in diameter and has an 18k Solid Gold Open Face case.  This watch is nothing short of spectacular in the real and would make an amazing addition to a collection, or a very special piece of wearable jewellery.

This ornate piece is comes in two parts – the elaborate pin brooch, and the pendant-style watch. The brooch is superb and can be worn completely on its own (separate from the watch). The pin brooch is made essentially of solid gold with a Sterling Silver setting on the front to hold the Diamonds and Rubies. The brooch hardware i.e. pin, hinge and loop are perfectly functional and in excellent condition. The pin itself holds 15 Diamonds and 6 large Rubies in an exquisitely designed lapel pin brooch – WOW!!

The Pendant Watch is equally stunning. With an 18k solid gold watch case holding another 16 diamonds plus the incredible 24 Rubies, it is simply dazzling. Even the bow holds 4 diamonds! The watch could also be worn independently of the pin, perhaps on a long chain. The watch is in great condition and has clearly been looked after. All of the case lids snap closed and stay latched in place perfectly with no gaps as you can see from the pictures.  The front case lid hinge is tight and not stretched, as is the back dust cover. The back case lid opens to correct position of 90 degrees. The case shows some tiny dents on the sides (this is due to the very high 18k gold which is softer – please see photos).

The case has various Swiss gold touch-marks (hallmarkings) confirming the case is 18k SOLID GOLD. Considering the price of gold today and the amazing condition of this ornate piece, this watch and matching pin are extremely valuable.

The watch has a fine enamel dial with gold minute marks and fancy gilt Louis XIV hands. The dial has no hairlines or marks whatsoever and is in excellent condition. The crystal is in great clear condition with no chips or scratches.

The gilt cylinder bridge style movement is also in fine condition. The 10 jewelled movement is very clean and works well.

This extraordinary piece of jewellery and would have been commissioned and/or owned by royalty or aristocracy. Only the very wealthy could afford a rare and magnificent piece such as this. Check out listings on Sotheby’s Auction website   or and other online retailer Bonhams  and you will see that watches similar to this sell for thousands of dollars. This is your chance to own your own unique and collectable piece of exquisite jewellery.

The watch is stem wound and the hands are pin set.  The watch is running and the hands set well.
