J. ASSMANN GLASHUTTE/SACHSEN HUNTER'S CASE POCKET WATCH
ESTIMATED DATE OF MANUFACTURE: CIRCA 1900
CASE: GOLD FILLED, NUMBER 147504
CASE: 16S
MOVEMENT SERIAL NUMBER: 14175According to an expert at the German Watch Museum in Glashutte, Germany - this watch (based on the serial number) was made around 1900 and the movement appears to have all of its original components. The exception is the second hand, which, according to the expert, is not the original. Also, the case is not the original which would have been solid gold. They indicated the possible reasons for the replacement of the case: Damaged or Removed by one of its owners and sold due to financial problems (as was done with a number of watches). This is only speculation, of course. The current case is finely decorated as can be seen in the photos. Also, as can be seen in one of the photos, there is evidence of a jeweler's notation inside the back case.Currently, this watch is running but since it has not been in use for some time, it was only checked to see if it was functioning and not over a long term. Note that this watch is not being posted by a a dealer. Only shipping to locations in the continental United States. Buyer's location will decide which shipping service will be used. If buyer has a request for a specific shipper, please advise.
