CONSECUTIVE SERIAL NUMBERED ILLINOIS STUART ANTIQUE SILVER POCKET WATCH X 2

You are bidding on TWO VERY RARE antique Illinois Watch Company pocket watches that were made in the 1870’s.  Aside from the rarity of each individual watch, these two are consecutive serial numbers from the factory. With only 1250 ever made of this movement; to own TWO OF THESE is an incredible find for your collection! An extremely rare opportunity exists to own this pair – Don’t miss out on the bragging rights with these super collectible Stuart models!!

The movements are rare Illinois Stuart Grade Model 3s with 17 Jewels and are an open face type.  This movement is the highest grade watch made by the Illinois Springfield Watch Company at the time of manufacture.  This watch was even a higher grade than the Bunn manufactured at that time.  These are very early Stuart movements of which only 1250 movements were made in total of these specific movements with the Old English Stuart lettering in the Model 3.  The watches are also rare because standard 5th pinions were not jewelled but these two are which makes them even more collectible and sought after.  Having the 5th pinion jewelled takes the watch from a 15 Jewel watch to a 17 Jewel watch and this was considered premium high grade in 1870!  Other high grade features for the time of manufacture are screwed down jewel settings and solid gold balance screws.  And the most exciting part of this sale is the fact you get two rare and consecutive numbered watches. Considering Illinois made over 5 million watches, it is extremely difficult to find two together! The serial number are 61281 & 61282 and as you can see the movements are in terrific condition. The gilt is very well preserved and the screws still bright blue. Both of these watches are running and set well.
