Brand and classification:Revue Thommen has been making quality watches since 1853. The labels they used were "Revue", "Vulcain","Vertex","Cyrus" and "Sola". (quote from article referenced below)   This timepiece is marked "Sola, Revue".  To read more about this history of the brand, please refer to
Uniqueness:
2 - Diver's technical watch, belonging to the early pioneering diving chronographs.3 - Metallic bi-directional diver's bezel (note: bezel is jammed either due to grime or misalignment from years of banging watch around)4 - The supreme, decorated Valjoux 23 movement is inside this watch (not the cheaper Landeron/Valjoux 7733 in most chronographs). This is a characteristic of the first version and a top class performer that was used by Rolex, Breitling and Patek in some of its chronographs. The Aquastar Deepstar also used the Valjoux 23 in its first execution.

Condition:This is not your typical "pretty boy, kept in a safe" watch.  This solid chunk of stainless steel has seen years of action: has been worn, banged, dropped, kicked...it earned every blemish. However, it has recently been professionally serviced (at considerable cost) and is keeping great time, with all functions working (chrono snappy and resetting to zero).  The NATO strap and crystal are recent replacements. Please study pictures of the dial and hands, as some paint is fading/chipping.
Measurements:The watch is a very masculine (and big by 60s standards) 38mm across (42mm with crown), 48mm lug-to-lug (about the same as a Rolex Submariner, for reference)
Similar watches sold on eBay and pricing:An identical watch from Portugal, under the "Vulcain" label, sold on eBay for $2,700 in Jan '16 (last picture in photos of my watch).  It appears in slightly better cosmetic shape than my watch, hence the heavy discount on my part, so I am discounting mine 50%.
Watch movie:
Just uploaded a YouTube movie where you can see the watch in action, with the minute counter advancing when the second hand passes zero, as well as chrono hands snapping to zero
Finally:I did my best to describe this watch via photos, movies and verbally. I make claims about the model from information I googled, read in various forums, was told by a watchmaker and copied from similar eBay listing.
Please ask any questions prior to committing to buy.I always pack well and insure items and ship fast. However, due to my work/travel schedule, I am sometimes unable to ship the watch for a few days, depending on when it is purchased and where in the US I am travelling. Thank you for understanding.
