description:This is an extremely rare wristwatch conversion with one Bahne Bonniksen karrusel movement. Bahne Bonniksen invented this movement type, and produced ca 1900, it's a 52 min. karrusel version (beat not 18000 but also 17650 bph). The karrusel is similar to the tourbillon, but with the carriage driven by the third wheel, not the forth wheel. Like the tourbillon it was designed to eliminate errors of timekeeping in the vertical positions. It consists of a rotating carriage carrying the escapement with the balance in the center. The karrusel mechanism is stronger and less delicate than the tourbillon.quotation from website by Alan Downing:"At the end of the 19th century, English watchmaking dominated the Kew rankings with Bonniksen’s karrusel (a kind of slow tourbillon). In 1896, 60 of the 96 watches that scored more than 80 points out of 100 to earn the title “especially good at Kew” were karrusels."This movement professional built into a custom made stainless steel watch case. the diameter of the case is 51 mm!
