early 18 size ~ key wind from the rear / key set from the front (if you need a key i will cheerfully provide one if you ask me prior to shipping ;-) ~ as i have just had it touched up by a professional watchmaker it is in good running order & kept close time for me over a 24 hour period ~ topped off by a stiff bow ~ the front cover will pop open to a crisp 90 degrees when it is in any position other than lying face up ~ then it needs just a little help with a finger as the case spring is just a little weak ~ worn engine turning all over the case to testify to it's years of use ~ empty cartouce on the front cover ~ marked inside the front cover AT & Co ~ #8727 ~ clear glass crystal ~ deep blued steel spade hands ~ enamel dial with roman numerals is signed Appleton Tracy & Co ~ Waltham, Mass ~ has a small hairline off the seconds bit to between the 7 & 8 & 1 up by the 1 ~ very nice & clean looking gilded movement with the very low serial number 9310 = made in 1858 ~ signed P S Bartlett ~ Waltham, Mass ~ has 11 to 15 jewels ~ solid steel balance wheel with an under sprung hairspring ~ lightly engraved on the engine turned cuvette by hand is may 2 1876 & inside the case rear ED ~ in really nice condition considering it could have easily seen action during our civil war ~ early in waltham's production & scare as the factory used brass taper pins to hold it together in place of screws which were usually employed in this young american company ~ i don't know how many they made in this way but i don't think there were many ~ a real early (for america) antique running pocket watch for the enthusiast to enjoy! please ask questions and resolve issues before you place your bid reserve? no reserve here! so if you like it you better place your bid now before it gets away! thanks for checking out my listing and if you are into watches please check out my other & you might want to keep a half-an-eye on my upcoming listings as i am liquidating a long time watchmaker's estate-whilst i continue to span the globe for unique and exotic items to bring to your door!
