DESCRIPTION: George Goodman was registered in London around 1770-1780. In Good Running Order!! Kept approx 5 minutes when tested over 24 hours and is in excellent condition for its age apart some hairline cracks to the edge of the dial at 2 and the tortoise shell covering has a few fracture lines but overall is in really good shape for this type of watch. Also, the movement button at 6 o'clock is missing, all as seen in the pictures. This is an 18th century verge pocket watch with hand painted outer case. It has a gilt metal pair case with an unknown mark of the inside of the inner case. The outer case has hand painted foliage decoration with a tortoise shell covering and to the rear is a hand painted scene of a lady and dog inside a gilded oval shaped cartouche with foliage surrounding it. There is a signed paper on the inside of the outer cover which could be provenance. The dial is white enamel porcelain with roman numerals bordered by a minute track and 5 minute arabic markers. It has a clean glass bulls eye crystal to protect the dial. The movement is an english key wind, fire gilded, full plate movement with a verge escapement, ornately pierced and engraved balance cock and tompion style silver disc regulator. The movement is signed "Geo Goodman" and is numbered "2828". Comes with a key!! Diameter: 47mm Total Weight: 82g
