Francois Constantin joined in 1819 creating Vacheron & Constantin. In 1974, Vacheron & Constantin officially dropped the ampersand from the company name, although its wristwatches had already engraved with the newer title since the 1950s. Among its multitude of watch making firsts, Vacheron Constantin invented the winding crown. Automatic self-winding Visconti Caliber with retrograde and a five-day power reserve. Displays a partially Skeletonized annular Dial with Anthracite back ground and applied luminous markers, Skeleton hands and Red tipped sweeper at center...The see-through dial shows two retrograde displays, a date retrograde calendar with hands at the 1:30 position, and at the 5 o’clock position a power-reserve indicator (in days) & open heart at 9 o'clock. Visconti Sapphire Crystal Demo Retrograde V1-AC3040. This watch is one of the most unique watches I have ever seen. The concept is quite clear. No pun intended.. Polished Sapphire allows the movement to be seen from all sides of the approx 42mm, approx. overall dimensions at crown 47mm by 57.70mm case. The front and back of the watch are covered with a flat Sapphire glass. The result is that you can see into the watch from every angle. Automatic self-winding, twin barrel, Visconti Caliber VI-AC304-01 with retrograde powers is seen through the dial showing two retrograde displays plus the heart at 9 o'clock. The Anthracite annular dial is revealing. The see-through dial is complemented by the flush central second hand and skeleton hand for the power-reserve, a date retrograde calendar with hands at the 1:30 position, and at the 5 o’clock position a power-reserve indicator (in days). This watch has a great deal of styling, design and engineering gone into it. It's big, comfortable on the wrist.. a real attention grabber.
