58 mm diameter across the outer case ~ shagreen outer case is in excellent condition with all rivets & decorative brads intact ~ button & case spring lock are both good ~ topped off by what appears to be an original ribbed bow this is a plunge repeater ~ upon fully depressing the pendant the watch strikes out the hours first with 1 hammer on the bell ~ a second hammer is employed for the double strike after each completed quarter ~ if you hold the case right the hours sing out clear & true ~ the 1/4 strikes are correct but the hammers need to be adjusted to get a nice strike tone from them ~ the hours can sound muffled if the case is held certain ways so the striking needs adjusting ~ but the watch runs like a champ ~ strong with decent amplitude of the steel balance wheel ~ back to the case... it appears that in it's day it was plated as the case appears worn ~ inner case has piercings to allow the sound to emanate ~ 7 hinges on the knuckle of the inner case ~ clear glass high domed crystal ~ excellent steel beetle & poke hands ~ enamel dial with roman numeral hours & arabic 5 minute markers is original ~ it does have damage ~ but once again this is the original dial ~ fire gilt movement number 122 signed ~R Sadler ~ London(i checked my baillie's & R(ichard) sadler is listed from 1701 till 1737) ~ a rather fantastic movement with embellishments that appear to be early 1700s ~ deep blued steel screws ~ even the repeating mainspring barrel is engraved under the dial plate ~ movement is clean & bright & magnificent ~ a beautiful example of an early london verge fusee 1/4 repeater for the enthusiast to enjoy! please ask questions and resolve issues before you place your bid reserve? no reserve here! so if you like it you better place your bid now before it gets away! thanks for checking out my listing and if you are into watches please check out my other & you might want to keep a half-an-eye on my upcoming listings as i am liquidating a long time watchmaker's estate-whilst i continue to span the globe for unique and exotic items to bring to your door!

the release of atomic power has changed everything except our way of thinking... the solution to this problem lies in the heart of mankind.
