This is a stunning historical timepiece made for the top Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) pilot. In case you are not familiar with Universal Geneve Polerouter watch, In 1954 to commemorate flights from New York/Los Angeles directly to Europe over the North Pole, SAS asked Gerald Genta to design a timepiece. Genta Later worked with Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe. Among the watches he designed are the Royal Oak (which he claims to have created overnight), the Nautilus, and the Ingenieur. This watch is a first generation Polerouter De Luxe since it has the rare Universal Geneve hammer movement in nice working condition that was created for only One year! The large 36mm case is hallmarked 18K Solid Gold. The original dial and crown are also solid gold. Included are a matching period appropriate gold filled riveted bracelet plus a pair of SAS insignia in enamel vintage cufflinks issued to SAS pilot's compliments your beautiful watch. The case, dial, movement and crown are signed. The case and dial are untouched and original.
