I guess we will start from the beginning. This watch was handed down to Matthew Davis, the great great grandson of well known Mormon leader R. Witzel (not the leader of the Mormon Church) by his Grandma and Grandpa Davis. This watch was originally given to R. Witzel in celebration of his Mormon Baptism. This beautiful pocket watch has not only an amazing value for the beauty and age, but for the religeous history attached to it. The casing is made of Sterling Silver with a tarnished rose goldish patina bezel with very slight wear. Notice the face of the watch. It has the most amazing detail and design i have ever seen on a mans pocket watch. Depending on the angle of the lighting all three hands turn from black to purple almost like a hologram. The inner circle with ornate gold leaves are surrounded by a gold face with incredible stars a very ornately designed silver or white gold outer ring that surrounds the Roman numerals. There are NO scratches on the crystal and little wear to the watch considering its age. There is no designer name on the face. If you open this watch as you will see in the pictures you will see the numbers 6092 and an inscription (R. Witzel) along with a makers mark showing a star and a moon wich i have only seen on an antique Waltham watch so that is a possibility i assume. As you examine the movement it simply says Avance, Retard with the same star and moon Trademark or Makers mark. On the small hand circle it appears to be worn with very very small scratches. Please do not overwind this watch. It works and keeps time but occasionally stops temporarily. This watch is very old and needs to find the right home. A tune up would be in order. Thank you!
