From Marc Newson, designer of the Apple iWatch, this is his original watch company, Ikepod. Ford Motors commissioned Ikepod to make a limited edition watch to celebrate the re-release and redesign of the Ford Thunderbird several years ago. Only 500 watches were made and this is watch number 400. Case features Ikepod's famous and unique Monocoque construction (where the dial and movement are placed into the case from the top and then sealed with the sapphire crystal). This "pod" type design evolved from Marc Newson's extensive and visionary Pod design collection. Stainless steel case is completely brush finished and measures 44mm diameter by 16.5mm thick. Front sapphire crystal is domed and there is a small port hole sized sapphire crystal in the caseback which permits viewing the balance wheel spinning. The dial is black with the Thunderbird logo and special turquoise color seconds hand and matching cabochons on the chronograph buttons. "Thunderbird" is also engraved across the top of the bezel. Chronograph features a 30 minute totalizer subdial and 12 hour totalizer subdial. Movement is the automatic ETA caliber 2892 with a Dubois Depraz chronograph module. The ETA 2892 is ETA's highest grade movement, and provides a lifetime of accurate timekeeping and is quite durable. Original Ikepod strap is natural rubber and vanilla scented. Comes with box and leaflet.
