Here is one of the world-first chronographs, driven by movement with verge fusee escapement.
Louis Moinet introduced his famous chronograph in 1816, this chronograph by Henri Robert can be dated by 1820s.
This watch was described by Henri Robert as "compteur tres soigné" (counter of very high quality) and was intended for scientific purposes.
As it has very limited clientelle, obviously very small numbers of such watches were produced. Probably, it's very few left.
The very this watch is presented in book by A. Chapiro "La Montre Française" (French Watch, p. 392). As the watch was intended for indoor use, it's in very good cosmetic condition.
Dial is made of solid silver and has old patina.
Original hands, original wooden box.
Dimensions are 68 x 68 x 25 mm.

He was watchmaker, inventor (invented his own escapement among other things) and author several works on watchmaking.
He was educated at Louis-Frédéric Perrelet as a watchmaker. After he worked for the famous watchmaker Breguet.
He has been a supplier for the Queen. In 1834 and 1839, he won a silver medal at the exhibition in Paris and gold medals in 1844 and 1849.
In 1847 he became Horloge de la Marine (watchmaker to the Navy).
From 1835 to 1838 Antoine Redier working with him.
