In fine quality crafted 18k hunter case pocket watch of Danish-Swiss watchmaker Jaques Alfred Jürgensen Copenhagen, manufactured in Locle, Switzerland to 1872. Massive 18k gold hunter case with engine turned covers. Glazed movement. Brand "JJ" (Jules Jürgensen), swiss head hallmark and 18k gold hallmark in the lid. Case number 840, identical with dial and movement number. The case is in very nice condition. Both glasses are in very nice condition. Enameled, signed and numbered dial with Roman numerals. Three blued Breguet hands,Subsidiary second. The dail and hands are in very good, undamaged condition. With "Jules Jürgensen Copenhagen N ° 840" signed movement crafted in the finest quality. Lever escapement with visible stones and counter weight. Polished screws. Cut, two-arm balance wheel with screwed gold weights and flat, blued Breguet spring. Visible rubies. Patented bow hand setting mechanism. Golden wheels. Wolf toothed winding wheels with exceptional locking blade with a central, loop-shaped spring. The clean movement is working properly. Diameter 55mm, weight 167g. Overall, the watch is in a very nice, fully functional overall condition.
Jaques Alfred Jürgensen was born in Le Locle 17. May 1842 as the jungest son of Jules (I) Jürgensen His education and professional training under the supervision of his fathers best employees, his farter took over technical maters himself, he became integrated in the daily business in the age of 19. The workshop records show the many pieces of work he executed. He made his own movements and designs witch was also shown on the world Fair in Paris 1867. 1868 Jaques Alfred married the daughter of Charles Jacot, one of the best watchmakers of his time. Jaques Alfred died 1912 in an age of 70.
