SPLIT PLATE Series VIII E HOWARD & Co., Boston - Serial VIII Serial 309937 Railway presentation.  This is a very well preserved bar damaskeened nickel split plate with screwed down raised jewel settings.  Records imply that this is The last VIII split plate. The watch is in good running order and the balance oscillates in a crisp full arc. The steel bright work and gold settings are in very good condition.  The regulator whip spring is present and functional.  The whip spring is a component frequently missing on antique pocket watches.   The 14K ROY / EH & CO is in outstanding condition.  Engine turning and sculpting in exceptional condition.  Hinges do not over extend.  Original double sunk E Howards & Co dial and hands free of damage.  Back, cuvette & besel function appropriately..  A number of railroad researchers have proposed that this watch has a connection with the Vermont railways cited below but my [and that of some - RMcL - with more wisdom than myself] vote goes for Vancouver, Victoria & Squamish.  Questions 519 472 8622 Free postage in Canada or United States
