Dennison Howard & DavisBoston Watch Co. 18 size 15 jewel keywind and keyset Dennison Howard & Davis pocketwatch. Historical early watch from Waltham's predecessor company in the mid-1850's. Watch is fronted by an unsigned enamel dial and is housed in a silver B.W.Co. (Boston Watch Co.) signed case. Movement serial number is 4258.Running when wound but balance motion is weak and watch lost about 15 minutes over 24 hours. Movement plates are decent but gilt tone is somewhat darkened. Dial faces up very nicely with just a very faint hairline in the seconds-bit and a small faint scratch outside the minute chapter at 36.5 minutes. Case is correct and original to Dennison Howard & Davis production but this example shows an extra casescrew mark from having held a different movement at some time. Case is attractive with a pleasing even patina and distinctive diagonal engraving on the lids surrounded by light remnants of visible engine turning. Case has a few small mild dings/dents and the front lid of case opens a small bit past 90 degrees and has a well executed solder repair to the inner lip where the latch catches. Good glass crystal. Please check out my other items this week for more great watches and watch related items for sale. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!!!
