The fully automatic Gyromatic 39 jewels high frequency chronometer movement is regarded as one of the finest ever made during the golden age of Swiss watch making. It is accurate to +/- 1 second per day and beats at twice the rate of a normal Swiss watch at 36000 beats per hour.
This is the calibre 42.1 movement which was directly developed from the calibre 32A chronometer. This one is marked "adjusted 5 positions and temp 36000bph chronometer"
The rotor bridge has the number 421803.indicating that it is calibre 42.1 which has an improved escapement and added hack seconds feature.
It also has a larger barrel and mainspring which gives a longer power reserve than the standard 32A chronometer.
The chronometer number engraved into the main plate is 43800.
There is also the number 9116FA etched into the case between the lugs which is the model reference. It has a very heavy solid stainless steel screw down water resistant case which is in mint condition. The totally original dial is just glorious, it has its original hands and winding crown with the GP logo on it.A new glass has been fitted and the case professionally cleaned and polished. As you would expect the watch is fully marked on the dial, movement and case. It comes complete with a new premium quality black leather strap and a new presentation box to keep your watch in perfect condition. This is an extremely rare watch with one of the finest chronometer movements ever made, it is much sought after by collectors. The watch case measures 35mm in diameter not including the crown. Overall this watch is in outstanding original condition.
