Hello! For sale is an extraordinarily rare and clean example of a 'dead-beat' seconds watch, manufactured by Doxa. It ironically 'ticks' like any battery Quartz out there, yet contains a hidden secret in the mechanism - a dead-beat seconds complication, controlled by a separate module, mostly modified for doctors to measure your pulse, and alternatively, to 'capture' each second, for more accurate time-keeping/recording. Indeed a 'sleeper' timepiece, manufactured in the first generation of dead-beat wristwatches like the Tru-Beat, and Synchro-Beat. The rarity not only lies in the complication, but also in its condition. Each tick of the seconds-hand lands on a marker spot-on.. this is very satisfying!! • Runs the rare, 21-jewel, Chezard calibre 116. • Manual winding, antimagnetic movement. • Pinnacle, classic 1950's design. • A stop-second (hacking) function is activated, when the crown is pushed in (note the crown is actually not flush against the case). • Near-NOS/Extremely mint and fine condition. • Applied arrow markers. • Recently fully serviced and overhauled. • 35mm unpolished steel case. Sharp as a knife.. • Everything is original, including the strap and buckle. Please PM me if you'd like to see a video of the unique dead-beat module in the movement. Overall a watch with a lot of depth - visually, historically and aesthetically. I'm based in Sydney and open to appointments. This listing includes ONE timepiece, on a vintage (non-Doxa) strap and buckle.
Thank you for looking!
