18 size ~ key set from the front / key wind from the rear ~ key cheerfully provided upon request prior to shipping ~ in good running order though not checked for timekeeping ~ topped off by a stiff bow ~ triple hinged sterling (?) hunting case marked B W Co #4171 (boston watch co?) ~ eagle hall mark inside rear cover ~ cross hatched design on the case body ~ engraved floral banners across the covers with an empty cartouche on the front ~ front cover opens to just slightly past a crisp 90 degrees ~ also the front lift spring will not keep it all the way open & could be replaced for that reason ~ clear glass crystal ~ gold spade hands with a tail on the blued steel seconds hand ~ un signed enamel dial with roman numerals is quite excellent ~ excellent looking gilded 15 jewel movement ~ solid steel balance wheel with under sprung hairspring ~ diamond end stone in blued steel setting ~ serial number 4258 = made in may 1857 according to the online nawcc records ~ all parts appear original with matching numbers ~ in very nice overall condition ~ an excellent early example of pre civil war antique american mechanical art for the enthusiast to enjoy! please ask questions and resolve issues before you place your bid reserve? no reserve here! so if you like it you better place your bid now before it gets away! thanks for checking out my listing and if you are into watches please check out my other offerings & you might want to keep a half-an-eye on my upcoming listings as i am liquidating a long time watchmaker's estate-whilst i continue to span the globe for unique and exotic items to bring to your door!
