For sale is a rare antique circa 1868-1883 E. Howard Boston 18 size (N) series IV (4) pocket watch. It is in a 14k solid yellow hunting case. The watch is a stem wind, stem set watch. It features a single sunk enamel dial with Roman numerals, black "5" seconds increments on the dial edge, fancy blued steel umbrella hands (have some corrosion), sub seconds hand, and a nickel movement with 17 jewels (factory adjusted to heat/cold, isochronism, and 6 positions). The movement has a sunburst style damaskeening. The movement is marked "N" for 18 size. The serial number is 37,585. The front case cover opens past the usual 90 degrees, so it does have a worn hinge. The dial has some spots and some tiny fine surface scratches but no hairlines. The acrylic crystal has scratches. The bow is not of solid gold and has visible wear. The case covers (back & front) have some dents which are visible from the inside. Im not sure when the watch was last serviced or if it will need anything but I tested it and it ran good and kept good time. The exterior of the case measures 56.3 mm in diameter (2.2 inches).
