EARNSHAW - EARNSHAW - EARNSHAW - SCARCE DOCTOR'S VERGE WATCH - Serial 1234 KW/KW This is very clean verge watch configured for use by a physican - please the relative size of the seconds dial complared with that for hours and minutes. A dial featuring an enlarged seconds makes counting pulse much easier. The movement has a clean gilded brass plass and has a relatively large flat unweighted balance. The movement runs with a clean and full swing. The dust cover fits well. The glided surfaced are clean and devoid of stains. The inner case closes easier and the hinge does not over extend. The inner case appears to be gilded grass with relatively little brass showing. The original gold hour and minute hands are free of damage. The blued steel seconds hand is similarly free of damage. The 40mm dia Earnshaw dial does show multiple hairlines. The glass crystal is appropriate and,similarly, free of damage. The outer 'clam shell' case has sound hinges but the latch buttom is missing. Watch papers in the outer case are difficult to read but clearly date November 4, 1843. Gross weight 114.7 grams. I would estimate build date to be circa 1815 - 1820.
