1941 ‘HANHART’  LUFTWAFFE FLEIGERCHRONOGRAPH RE-COMMENCEMENT (REPLICA) SERIAL NUMBER (S 28) FROM ‘EASTMAN LEATHER CLOTHING’A VERY RARE ‘SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION’ OF300 TIMEPIECES WORLDWIDEThis little used quality rare re-commencement (replica) 1941 pattern Hanhart Luftwaffe Fleigerchronograph serial No: S 28 (the ‘S’ stands for ‘Special Limited Edition’) was purchased from the prestigious ‘Eastman Leather Clothing’ company of Ivybridge, Devon in March 2001 and is in full working order. As can be seen there is no wear marks on the red reset button that can occur with normal everyday use over a long time frame. It still has in place the celluloid protective covering on the back of the chronograph. It has spent the last fifteen years stored in a safe. The condition is, as seen in the photographs supplied. On a minor note, the internals of the watch case e.g. the securing press studs show signs of some discolouration as does some parts of the case lining. This very rare highly prized example of the Hanhart traditional watchmaker’s skill is accompanied by a small official Hanhart booklet that details all relevant technical information in connection to this quality timepiece. The booklet has the official ‘Eastman Leather Clothing’ rubber stamp mark along with the handwritten date entry in connection to the date of purchase. On occasion when the re-commencement (replica) Hanhart chronographs are presented for sale (they are usually the few and far between 1939 pattern Fleigerchronograph and Tachy Tele chronographs both types numbering 2,500 timepieces each respectively) they never seem to be totally complete as they never appear to have the original white cardboard box that housed the leather case and chronograph. These white cardboard boxes have the chronograph serial number placed on them.  This very early low serial numbered rare re-commencement (replica) 1941 pattern Hanhart Luftwaffe Fleigerchronograph that is the 28th to be manufactured out of this very rare '(S) special limited edition' series comprising of only 300 timepieces worldwide is entirely complete in every respect, as when first purchased from 'Eastman Leather Clothing' in March 2001.   In the late 1990s it is understood that ‘Eastman Leather Clothing’ was the sole official ‘Hanhart’ agent for the UK market. Within that time period the ‘1939 pattern Fleigerchronograph’ as well as the ‘Tachy Tele’ chronograph were the only WW2 period German military re-commencement (replica) models available from the original wartime manufacturers (HANHART). How this very rare re-commencement (replica) Hanhart 1941 pattern Luftwaffe Fleigerchronograph came to be commissioned as was imparted to me by Alan Eastman of Eastman Leather Clothing back in 2001 Hanhart had received a request from an American company (unspecified) to re-commence an exclusive limited edition production run (300 in total) of their wartime 1941 pattern Fleigerchronograph that would compliment the 1939 Fleigerchronograph and Tachy Tele models that were already being marketed at that time. The full intention being that these limited re-commencement 1941 pattern Fleigerchronograph models, would only be exclusively sold on the American market. When Hanhart first received the request to re-commence a ‘special limited edition’ production run of 300 timepieces, they were a little reluctant to comply with the American company’s request at first, as it was apparently considered by Hanhart to be such a small amount of 1941 pattern Fleigerchronographs to commercially re-commence. Hanhart finally relented and agreed to re-commence a special limited production run of the said classic WW2 1941 Luftwaffe Fleigerchronograph model (300 in all). However, when the manufacture of the 300 ‘special limited edition’ re-commencement (replica) 1941 pattern Luftwaffe Fleigerchronographs were completed. The American company that had first commissioned their limited re-commencement run were unable to take receipt of these very rare 1941 pattern Luftwaffe Fleigerchronographs, due to an apparent unexpected lack of funds. Hanhart approached ‘Eastman Leather Clothing’ (their then, existing UK agent) to establish if, they would market these very rare ‘special limited edition’ timepieces in the UK.  History has dictated that 'Eastman Leather Clothing' indeed opted to market the (S) special limited edition 1941 pattern Luftwaffe Fleigerchronographs. General point of reference in regard to the Hanhart re-commencement of selected wartime chronograph types, in and around the years of 1999 and 2001 approximately:  1939 pattern Fleigerchronograph (WW2 Luftwaffe orientated) a ‘Limited Edition’ of (2,500) timepieces worldwide.   Tachy Tele chronograph (believed to be Kreigsmarine orientated) a ‘Limited Edition’ of (2,500) timepieces worldwide.   1941 pattern Fleigerchrongraph (WW2 Luftwaffe orientated) a ‘Special Limited Edition’ of (300) timepieces worldwide.    In the below is the relevant Hanhart technical data: 1.      ETA/Valjoux Kaliber 7760 13¼’’’, modified2.      Hand wound3.      28.800 vibrations/hour4.      17 jewels5.      Serial number with certificate6.      Fully wound running time of about 42 hours7.      Stainless steel case8.      Asymetric button distances9.      Dual O- ring gaskets on crown and buttons10.  Screw on back cover11.  Fluted rotating bezel with marking domed sapphire crystal12.  Luminous markings on dial and hands13.  Water resistant to 10 atm (100 meters)14.  Diameter approx. 40 mm15.  Height 13.7 mm16.  Weight with band 93g FREE POSTAGE WITHIN THE (UK) VIA:ROYAL MAIL UK SPECIAL DELIVERY GUARANTEED BY 1pm SERVICE
