For over 90 years, Lucien Piccard watches have been worn on the wrists of royalty, statesmen and celebrities worldwide.First of all; this watch is in perfect working condition and the gemstones and gold are all top quality for the era. The diamonds are bright (European cut) and the Ceylon rubies are all basic cut and all have a matching natural ruby red color. There are both square and round rubies in the setting. This watch contains a lot of 14K gold with a total weight of 39.7 grams. All of the watch that is visible is gold. It has a long safety chain. The watch works great and the crystal has no flaws. Some minor spotting on the dial. We did some research on this watch about years ago and it is circa 1940's. This bracelet style watch (according to the research we found) was all the rage during this era. Many GI's stationed in Europe brought similar (but much less quality) watches back home to their girl. And then by the late 1940's this type of watch was out-of-style, mainly because of all the cheaper imitation versions. I found one on the internet that is no where near this nice and weight for sale for $3,250. If you search eBay you can probably find similar watches of lesser quality. Everything is right about this watch. The one thing that is really important to note is this: it currently is configured for a lady with a small wrist. I saw my mother wear it once and she was 5 foot and about a 100 pounds. I had a lady friend of mine try it on. She is 5'2" and about 120 lb. She got it on but it was very tight. This watch can be made to be bigger but it will require a jeweler to remade the clasp, or as a minimum, add a gold wire additional connector piece. So from this regards , it is made for a small lady. Currently, the clasp works fine and it has a secure safety chain. The watch is approximately 6 inches in length. The measurement can probably be increased 1/2 inch by a jeweler.This watch contains 14 bright white European cut diamonds and 26 round rubies and 14 asscher cut rubies. All stones are of matching quality and all are secure in the setting. There is no flaws on this heavy gold watch that keeps good time.
