Early 18th Cent Silver Cased Repousse Verge Fusee Pocket Watch R.Threlkeld London c.1720This listing is for an early 18th cent pair cased verge fusee pocket watch with excellent silver repousse outer case. The watch is in good condition and good working order. The movement dates from circa 1710-1720 and it is housed in a later custom built silver pair case with repousse decoration. Not a marriage, the watch was professionally re-cased in 1836, both silver cases hallmarked 1836 and the movement is a perfect fit.
The thick gauge silver outer case is in great condition with very little wear, much nicer than most repousse cases which are very thin. Both cases hallmarked 1836. Inner case with a few small marks commensurate with age... please see pictures. Both cases clip shut. The watch has an early English verge fusee, chain driven movement which is in good clean condition. Engraved winged balance cock, four square pillars and Tompion style regulator disk. Signed R.Threlkeld, London, 207. The movement is working well and keeps reasonably good time for a verge watch.The off-white enamel dial is in excellent condition.Gold hands. Bullseye glass in good condition. The watch measures approx 54mm across and weighs 127 grams. £995 - Open to Offers The movement has been removed from the case to photograph.
