This is a wonderful 18K solid gold pocket watch made by E.M. Gattle. This open face fob watch dates to circa 1890. The back of the case has a fleur-de-lis design set with diamonds. It measures 29mm and weighs 30.5 grams.
This watch was part of Bonham's auction house Fine Watches and Wristwatches on November 15th, 2014 in New York. The estimate was $2,000-$3,000 The description reads: "Swiss. A fine 18K gold open face fob watch set with diamonds No. 4769, retailed by E. M. Gattle, New York, circa 1890 Manual winding nickel lever movement jeweled through the center, bimetallic balance, blued overcoiled spring plain index regulator, pendant set, gold cuvette, signed white enamel dial, black arabic chapters, red minute numerals, blued Breguet hands, Jeannot & Sheibler case set with diamond fleur-de-lis 29mm" You can look up the listing on the Bonham's website. The Bonham's expert examined the watch and it runs well. Since the auction I have had the watch in a safety deposit box. The watch weighs 30.5 grams.
