This is a really great example of a rare Waltham pocket watch. This is 18 size, open face, model 1883, 17 jewels, Adjusted, Serial #7454592. The movement is engraved with the “Santa Fe Route” logo. The movement is in excellent condition, with no scratches, wear, or signs of abuse. It is a strong runner, but has not been cleaned or serviced in many years. The porcelain dial is excellent and original. It has the early and desirable Santa Fe Route soap bar logo. The dial is nearly perfect. I have searched with a loop, and I can find only one hard to see hairline that is about 2mm long. Otherwise, it has a couple of light surface marks or scratches. This is just such a hard dial to find. The only one I have seen on Ebay in a long time sold recently for just under $1500, and it has a pretty badly hairlined dial. So this is really a good piece. There are others available, but this dial variation is the whole ballgame on this model watch. The case is not special. It is gold filled, and a good quality 20 year case. But the designs are worn, and the case edge has some brassing. So while it is a good case to carry, I feel this movement deserves an upgrade for it to be at its finest. This is a very nice estate found watch. I have not had it cleaned or serviced, so I cannot guarantee that it will be a perfectly reliable timekeeper. Buyer pays shipping, $12 in USA. Thank you.
