Meteorite Watch, Kuntz - Besançon   "A 4.56 billion years history on your wrist"       The meteorite dial : This watch offer a window on the Universe, through the large 36.3mm dial made in a nickel-iron meteorite, displaying natural structures, older than Earth (4.6 billion years), unique to this kind of meteorites, and called "Widmanstätten pattern". These meteorites are thought to be the fragments of the cores of larger ancient asteroids (have been linked to M-type asteroids because both have similar spectral characteristics in the visible and near-infrared) that have been shattered by impacts. The meteorite was found in oriental Siberia, close to the arctic circle, in a brook-bed flowing into the river of Hekandue, close to Seymchan (urban-type settlement with about 3500 inhabitants). The dial have been plated with a platinum family member, the rhodium, to become unalterable.   The watch : This watch was built from a high quality automatic Swiss Made movement, the most famous ETA 2824-2 (25 jewels). The mainspring is wound automatically as a result of natural motion of the wearer's arm, to provide energy to run the watch, making manual winding unnecessary (automatical winding, ball-bearing rotor, bi-directional winding, power reserve: 38-40 hours, hacking seconds). We chosed a very refined design, with a simple indacations of four hours, offering a clear and wide view on the dial. From this high quality automatic movement, the watch have been assembled and tested in Besancon, "Town of Art and History" situated close to the France/Switzerland border. The city is famous for its microtechnology and watch industries, since the french revolution and the establishment of the first swiss watches factories in the downtown (1793). It is host of the biannual Micronora trade fair, one of Europe's major events in the field of microtechnologies and along watches activity, has developed a reputation as one of France's leading centres of technology in all fields, including telecommunications and biotechnology.   Some technical data : Movement manufacturer : ETA Caliber : 2824-2 Power reserve : 38-40 hours Functions : Hours, minutes, seconds, date Watch Manufacturer : Kuntz - Besancon Dial : 36.3mm / Iron meteorite / Rhodium plated Watch : 42mm without crown Thickness : Maximum thickness 11.8mm Case / Glasses : Stainless steel / Sapphire glass on the top / Glass on the back Box : Yes, with name and logo of the mark Strap : Leather, 23cm, from Italy Certificats : Two hand signed certificates, one for the meteorite, and a numbered for the watch             Check out my !
