This is a beautiful antique man’s Howard pocket watch. It is 16 size, stem wind and set, 23 jewels, adjusted, serial #1103862 (Circa 1912). The movement is in very good condition and runs strong. I have not had it cleaned or serviced, so I cannot guarantee it to be completely reliable. The porcelain dial is excellent, with no damage or hairlines. Blued steel hands. the 14K original hunter case is plain, and has no dents or damage. Just normal signs of use. The inner back lid carried a hand engraved inscription to the retiring mayor if Wichita Falls, Texas. It reads “PRESENTED BY The Citizens of the BEST BUILT City in Texas, to the BEST MAYOR IN TEXAS. T. B. Noble”. He retired in 1912, and as this movement was produced in the spring of 1912, this was his retirement gift from the city. The case also carries all the correct Howard Watch CO. markings, and also “HOWARD 14K”. Guaranteed to be solid gold. After doing some brief research, I have found that Thomas B. Noble served as Mayor from 1904-1912, after serving on the City Council from 1902-1904. He was born in Sabine County 15 February 1869, and died 21 November 1952. He was a member of Masons Royal Arch Chapter, The Woodmen of the World, The Modern Woodmen of America, B.P.O.E. (trustee), and was on the board of stewards of the Episcopal Church, South. He was also a well regarded businessman before and after serving as Mayor. He started in the confectionary and stationary business, became general manager of the Wichita Falls Broom Factory, and later reorganized the family hardware business, which grew under his leadership. I feel this watch may belong in a local museum, or certainly a private collection. There can be only one of these! Buyer pays shipping, $20 in USA. Thank you.
